Snake Bite!

And one wonders why I wrote a post on snake boots…

Lucky the pup just had his first encounter with a Copperhead. I was away and came home to find….

an unlucky Lucky.

You can see in his nose whiskers where one of the snake’s fangs went in.

He normally has a sweet little neck. All that’s fluid from fighting the snake’s venom.

Nothing too symmetrical about that face. Pretty darned pitiful. But he’s going to be OK.

Around here, we don’t take snake bites lightly. They obviously do happen — just ask any of the dogs. So when I bark at the kids (no, I don’t mean that — I mean ask sweetly) for the kids to put on their boots, this is precisely why.

Here’s a link to another snake bite that happened here. It’s kind of a confession about how I feel about snakes biting my four legged friends.

ADDENDUM!  As of today, (one week later), Lucky is completely back to his annoyingly perfect self. He’s torturing the other dogs, getting into the garbage, digging holes in the yard, nosing the kids’ food, and generally behaving like the puppy he is supposed to be. Alls well…until the next event!

A well deserved rest after all that!
